Psychoanalysis is an intensive kind of psychotherapy, often meeting four times per week. The goal is to better understand how denied or hidden aspects of ourselves shape the way we feel, think, and relate to others. Within the safety of a deep therapeutic relationship, we learn to approach these aspects of ourselves with greater understanding and compassion, and ultimately learn to make difference choices that were not possible before.
Although a significant commitment, psychoanalysis offers a profound opportunity for transformative and lasting change. Its aim is not only to help ease longstanding suffering that has resisted change, but also opens the possibility of deeper, flexible, and more loving relationships—with others and with oneself.
